After releasing their debut single ‘Morning Light’ in 2014
and being crowned ‘Sheffield’s best unsigned band’ at the Exposed awards in
March of this year, it’s fair to say The
SSS have been doing anything but slacking off. New single ‘Eighteen’ is available to download from iTunes
as of today (28th of September) and it’s an absolute corker.
To put it simply this song is kind of like that kid that gets
to Year 11 in school and decides to go out with a Year 9 for some reason as it
describes the moral dilemma of lusting after someone who’s “Barely legal”. It acts as a cautionary
tale as it warns it’s protagonist to “Stop
now, before you lose it all”, which presumably means they’re in danger of
being put on the sex offender’s register. Mix this with cutting guitars, a
pretty sexy breakdown mid song and frontman Josh Coddington’s unmistakably
northern twang and what you’ve got is a pretty fine track from a band still in
its early days, which can only mean they’re bound to get better. Watch this
space.
